Abu Ismail al-Muhajir | Translated By JUS

Martyrdom is a privilege bestowed on only the greatest of the Ummah’s sons. In Iraq, many brothers are desperately waiting their ooportunity to carry out martyrdom attacks because these type of operations can not be controlled by the occupiers.

While much discussion surreounds the entire subject, the purpose here is not debate but rather to show how just some of these brave hearts came to the land of Jihad and achieved their goal.

In The Name Of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Abu Umair As-Suri Al-Halabi was an ascetic worshipper, God-fearing, with an intimate knowledge of Allah. This martyr (we consider him as such and Allah knows best) was born to a wealthy family that owned a textile factory. He lost his father while he was still young and he was raised by his mother.

Abu Umair (may Allah have mercy on him) was fiercely loyal to his mother. He loved her a lot and he used to serve her with a lot of enthusiasm. This did not hinder him however from responding to the call of Allah when he read Allah's command: “Go forth light or heavy.” (9:41) This charming and smart young man heeded the call and forfeited his education as a third year student in the engineering faculty.

He was forever reciting Allah's words: “Say: If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your kindred, the wealth that you have gained, the commerce in which you fear a decline, and the dwellings in which you delight…. are dearer to you than Allah and His Messenger, and striving hard and fighting in His Cause, then wait until Allah brings about His Decision. And Allah guides not the people who are Al-Fasiqun (the rebellious, disobedient to Allah),” (9:24)

Abu Umair, may Allah have mercy on him, came to the theatre of Jihad alone where he met the martyr Abu Khattab Al-Yemeni Al-Hindi Al-Hijazee, who we will talk about later insha’Allah.  Together the traveled to the city of Fallujah, the city of Honor and Jihad and resided with one of the Sheikhs who used to help the Arab Mujahideen. However Allah destined that he should become a Martyr, and he talked with me about his intense desire to join our ranks. I replied to him: “Do you pledge to us to die (for the sake of Allah), for we do not accept but the one who seeks martyrdom.” That day he laughed and said: “I am searching for it, I intensely desire it, do we aim for anything other than that? Then I gave them an appointment and moved them to the house of Abi Abdullah Ash-Shami.

Indeed, a group of audacious and daring brothers had gathered in that house. These brothers were marked by shining light on their faces; they used to select their words carefully so as not to hurt others. They were indeed brothers for the sake of Allah, whom you could sit with to increase your Faith. When mentioning Allah, you would feel their souls humble before them, the Qur’an in their hands, with smiles upon their faces, they would pray day and night seeking to get closer to their Lord.

Umm Abdullah used to ask Allah to reward her for serving them. She was quite vivacious and active despite her health status and the large number of children she had bore.

Once, Abu Abdullah Ash-Shami who was sitting next to me said "When I used to sleep with my brothers upstairs, I was accustomed to not missing the night prayer, and was fortunate to be able to pray witr at the home of my family, and I praise Allah that whenever I would come to my wife, she used to remind me of Abu Umayr and his brothers saying: “I appeal to you for the sake of Allah, not to deprive me of the reward of executing a martyrdom operation in a place where no one can enter but women.” Whenever her young son would awake her, she used to hear a voice like a man wailing who had lost his dearest saying, “I've never heard such a loud wailing however a loud laugh had never found it’s way to them. They used to eat in order to survive not fulfill their desires.”

I have never seen or heard anyone like the dear martyr Abu Umayr worshipping. The martyr Abu Khabab Al-Falastenie, the valiant, the brave heart, and the precious by Allah (we will come to him later) used to say:  "Verily, I can't sleep with Abu Abdullah Ash-Shami because I feel shy of Abu Umayr, I have never awaken at night except to find him standing in prayer.”

For you is success O Abu Umair! The noble prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Delight of the eyes (tranquility) has been placed in prayer" (1). I swear by Allah that there does not cease to exist in this Ummah those who find inner happiness in praying and I swear by Allah that Abu Umayr was one of them and so was Abu Abdul Rahman Al-Libby, I ask Allah to hasten his release from captivity.

After praying Isha’ (the evening prayer), Abu Umayr would perform additional prayers. Then he would conversed with his brothers for a while, only to sleep for an hour or even two after that and then keep awake until the Doha (12 raka’ahs of the voluntary forenoon prayer). Abu Umayr then slept for an hour, had breakfast and would pray until reaching the Dhuhr prayer. After that, he prayed Dhuhr prayer and continued praying until Asr (afternoon prayer) and so on. His brothers would say, “We swear by Allah that we haven't seen him but praying or holding the Holy Qur’an, while he used to fast a day and break his fast another day, so ‘Abu Abdullah’ felt pity and asked Abu Umayr to be gentle to himself. Abu Umayr replied: “If fasting the whole year weren’t forbidden, I would fast it all, but few days separate me from meeting the beloved insha’Allah."

While this hero was waiting for the moment that Allah would cure the breasts of the believers, an intelligence battalion identified a crucial target being the general headquarters for the Polish army in Karbala city. The heroes took a look around the place until they found a security hole in the facility. A building located near a sub-street had been erected to house the unbelievers' servants and as they became more comfortable, they let their guard down and a gap in security resulted.

With that, Abu Umayr al-Suri, his brother Abu Zubayr al-Kuwaiti and another brother set off to execute the plan. Abu Umayr broke through the gates and struck the towers that had been raised high in the sky and mixed with the impure blood. Soon after, Abu al-Zubayr drove a truck filled with five tons of explosives into his target. The number of casualties for the enemy was estimated in the hundreds but alas, this was suppressed in the media, one of the enemy’s best tools.

I shall not forget to mention to you a verse that I wrote to my beloved Abu Umayr before hurriedly bidding farewell to what he always hoped for, so I said:

O Abu Umayr don’t worry
Getting happiness when asking the glory
Hurry your steps to reach Allah
You are welcomed by the houris
Spreading their braids saying
Come on O the one awarded Pride.
