raise be to Allah and his Peace and Blessings be upon His Messenger, his family, his companions and whoever follows His guidance.

The most dangerous of diseases and severe of disasters within nations and societies is the illness of discord and differences. As such, Allah most High has warned us in the most serious way, forbidden us in the most unequivocal ways and clarified to us its grave problems and bad effects through His saying

“Do not become divided so that you fail and your unity is gone (strength is gone) and He said: and do not become like those who have become divided and differed amongst themselves after the proofs have come to them and they are the ones who will have a most painful torture”

What causes great astonishment and surprise is that today, Muslims notice the scope of differences and discord among Muslims in general and specifically, between those working for the cause of Islam, to the extent that this difference and discord has become the one issue that unites us and is the only issue that the various Islamic factions all agree with!

Feeling the danger of this situation, many Islamic writers were motivated to research and write about this issue from a number of different perspectives ranging from mentioning specific causes and phenomena to showing the etiquette of differences as a way of resolving this crisis. These efforts are still not enough to remove an affliction that is as deep and dangerous as this.

This message will provided some of the most important evidences from the Quran and the Sunnah as well as the sayings of the scholars of this nation regarding the importance of unity and gathering. It will also give examples of discord and differences, the history and dangers, by presenting the Islamic condition through the experiences of schizophrenia and discord, separation and differences to clarify the main reasons for our situation.

This message does not stop at displaying the reasons for the problem but shows the clear solution as exemplified in accordance with the methods of Ahl ul Sunnah wal Jama’ah in evaluating people and ideas on the basis of knowledge, justice and fairness and summarized according to the rules of Shariah that must regulate any relationship between Muslims and those working for Islam. This is so that they preserve their brotherhood even though their opinions, work perspectives and intellectual striving are different and many. Tantamount to this is that this message has set clear signposts that represent the door necessity for all to enter into the unity of Islamic work.

The importance of this message is not just in what is included in it but also in its source; this message comes from the depths of Jihad from within the blessed Islamic renaissance and it expresses the opinion of a large sector that describes one of the most severe Islamic afflictions, which is to hold onto its opinions in the issues of difference.

If fear of discord, strife and differences is felt along with the importance of unity, gathering and love in this message that is because these are the true motivating factors for presenting this comprehensive and complete research, then this must motivate the other factions to work positively with this suggestion.

Allah speaks the Truth and He guides the way.

All Praises are due to Allah, we thank Him, we seek His assistance and we seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our souls and the sins of our actions. Whoever Allah guides no one can misguide and whoever He misguides no one can guide.

I bear witness that there is no God except Allah, single with no partner and that Muhammad is His servant and slave.

Oh you who believe fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims

O people fear your Lord who created from one soul and from it its spouse and from them he spread many men and women. And fear Allah whom you beseech from, for Allah is watching over you

Oh you who believe fear Allah and say steadfast speech, He will correct your actions and forgive your sins and whoever obeys Allah and His messenger will have won a great victory.

To proceed; what the Islamic nation has become is not invisible to either friend or foe. The backwardness that it has regressed into and the indignity in which it lies clearly shows that it is afflicted with blindness and that is has deviated from its path. It has been a victim of loss and misguidance on its path and has regressed and degenerated in various areas and levels.

Divine revelation has been moved far away from its role in the areas of this nation’s life. It has no more become the source of its creed and legislation nor etiquette and manners, nor is it the authoritative inspiration of thought and creativity of life. As a result, this deviation has affected this nation at its core. Its creed has lost its purity, strength and effect. It has not as before produced the strength of belief, reliance upon God and certainty in the hearts of many of the Muslims. Instead it has become to cold phrases to many Muslims that do not produce certainty nor motivation for work.

Deviation has also affected worship, understanding of worship and its meaning. Worship has no longer become all that is in obedience to Allah in speech and actions, openly and inwardly. Included in this is doing of what is obligated, the general advantages and prohibition of wrong and promotion of virtue, the calling to Allah, the Jihad in the path of Allah, the support of Truth and its propagation, the fighting of falsehood and its people. Worship has also no longer become central in the minds of many people and has been replaced with distortion. Its meaning has shrunk and only refers to physical actions practised in a limited sense without feeling its meaning and without it having an effect on life.

The mothers of vice, from open disbelief to

sinful disobedience have spread within this nation and they have ruled the man-made laws in matters of blood, money and honor that omit the Shariah’s divine laws! This Nation has also been subjected to brainwashing at its very core. Man-made laws have become the mindsets of many of its sons and are rationalized as being necessary to learn these ways of life and laws for living!

Becoming protectors and partners of the disbelievers, be they Jews, Christians or others, is part of shrewd diplomacy! The delaying of Jihad and its laws, as well ad the criminalization of the callers to Jihad is an action to improve the perception people have to show good intentions and adherence to civilized international laws that work towards making peace and good relationships between countries!

On the economic level, the economy of the nation is now based on a system of interest and usury that is built and spread throughout the world by Jews with the purpose to plunder the riches of the Muslims and place them in the hands of the enemies of the Muslims.

On an educational level, many modern educational institutions in the Islamic world – through its national curricula have achieved what colonialism stopped short of doing and that is stripping generations of Muslims of their creed and religion, replaced by a feeling of defeat within their souls and a spirit that clings to western civilization. With the wonder of the west in their minds, they spread narrow nationalistic views that link a person to his countrymen and therefore to the limits of his country, instead of to his creed, religion and nation.

On a social level, vice has become widespread and virtue absent. Houses have been destroyed and families torn apart. The chief reason for all of this has been the vicious media war fought against us by our enemies using radio, television, cinema, video, press, and other means of media whose sole aim is to ruin our creed and destroy our values to disintegrate our society.

Politically, the size of the catastrophe cannot be described and is beyond belief. The nation is afflicted with a group of rulers and evildoers that were fashioned by colonialism in order to achieve its objectives and to carry out its plans that it couldn’t achieve directly. These rulers regulate using the laws of disbelief, they ally themselves to the enemies of Allah and they fight the allies of Allah from among his callers and scholars. They torture the Islamic peoples with the worst of torture and embezzle the riches of the nation, spending it on their personal desires and material fantasies without any legal supervision or accountability because of a love for power, authority and tyranny in all matters.

What as resulted from this is that the nation lost the position Allah wanted it to occupy which is the best nation brought to mankind that enjoins what is virtuous and forbids what is wrong. It has authority and dignity. Yet its enemies overpowered it and have abused its dignity and pride, they stole her land and raped her honor, they have occupied its holy places stealing its fruits and wealth and deposing the Muslim Caliphate through the spreading the seeds of discord and disunity. This divided the one nation into many divided nations, various countries and numerous nations, for each one a ruler, prince, flag and bed being true to the words of the poet who said:

They divided into groups and each city has a leader of the faithful and a pulpit!

This is the product of what the Nation suffered from in terms of differences and divisions and whoever said the following has indeed spoken truthfully:

Our differences over the ruling has shown that our invaders have benefited from them.

This terrible situation that the Islamic Nation is in makes it compulsory for work to be done to rectify the situation of the Muslims in general and specifically upon those whom Allah has chosen and made successful in the field of work for His cause.

Many different factions and groups have moved in this direction and have spent many appreciated efforts in this regard even though it still isn’t nearly enough. These efforts have also attempted to solve differences and disunity within their work but their fruits have still to be reaped.

There are many texts in the Quran and the Sunnah and the consensus of the scholars of this Nation (that are many and well authenticated) showing the compulsory nature of unity and love between the Muslims, and the prohibition and danger of discord and differences between the Muslims. What falls under commanding what is virtuous and prohibiting what is wrong is the commanding of unity and love and the prohibiting of discord and differences between the Muslims, especially those working for the cause of the Muslims. It is imperative to pause at this subject in order to shed some light on this issue and go into some detail to stress the importance of the issue and how to get to it clearly in the minds of the people, with the hope that the proper course in the field of Islamic work will be taken.

As we approach this subject, we see that we must begin by giving the literal and rational evidences regarding the ruling of unity and its importance first. In the second part, an account of the present Islamic situation now and what it is currently experiencing in terms of the phenomenon of disunity and arguments, the reasons for that and discord and strife is given. In the third part we will show the signs of the correct methodology our situation compels us to adopt and in the fourth part of this work we shall lay down a unifying general framework that we see as the foundation of achieving co-ordination, co-operation and support between the various Islamic workers but also between individuals and groups.

This will be, with the permission of Allah most High, a preface to the greater desired unity. What follows are these discussion points mentioned in order and while concise, we hope they are not insufficient.
